"No firefighter is worth anything to himself, his department, or his community the moment he believes that he knows it all. Training is and must be an ongoing concept - from day one (now) until day last".

Fire Science Props
Fire Dollhouse
This is a great prop for demonstrating critical fire behaviors. The prop shows students the way smoke and heat move through a structure and allows real-time demonstrations of Smoke Explosion, Backdraft, and Flashover. Once you have constructed the prop I recommend caulking all the interior seems. This allows better control of the smoke movement with the prop and increases the duration of the prop. It takes about 3-4 hours to build . Click the PDF icon below for the directions.

Rollover Prop
The rollover prop does an outstanding job of demonstrating how smoke is fuel. Due to the high buoyancy of smoke it is captured in the over hang of the front portion of the box. It shows how fire moves through the box. Once again caulk the interior of the box for best effect. This prop also does a great job of demonstrating backdraft, smoke explosion and flashover. It takes about an hour to construct. I use 1 inch staples with a pneumatic gun. Click the PDF below for instructions.
